Kellie and I just wanted to let you know how much much we enjoyed your "On Broadway" performance last evening at The Bushnell in Hartford, CT. You are a tremendous talent. We wish you continued success. We also would like to thank you for your time and consideration in discussing career paths for potential musical theatre performers. We related your valuable insight to our daughter for her future endeavors.
Thanks again!

From Cheri Lindner and Marc Wiese:
Thank you for such an entertaining show in Battle Creek !! We had such a wonderful time. It is always such a pleasure to hear you sing. We cannot think of a better way to spend an evening. You are truly amazing!! The emotion and feeling that you bring to your performance is indescribable. We didn't get a chance to speak with you as so many people were talking to you. We hope to see you (and hear you) again soon.

From Dick Stableford:
I saw you this evening at Wolf Trap. You were great!! I note that you graduated from the University of Michigan. Are you from Michigan? If so where?

From Ashley Smith:
I just saw your performance at the Tribute to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, Oregon, and it was fabulous! Not only was your talent impressive, but your onstage personality, friendliness, humor, and humility made the night a very enjoyable one indeed for me. I'm only sorry that I missed you in Phantom of the Opera - I know that that would have been a treat beyond imagination. Thank you so much and keep up the good work!

From Connie:
I just saw your performance with the Youngstown Symphony. It was extraordinary. We also enjoyed your performance with the Pittsburgh Symphony in October. I will be watching for your future appearance in the Pittsburgh to Cleveland areas.
I can't find any Christmas album or songs that you have recorded. Are you planning on making a Christmas album?

Connie, thanks so much for coming to Youngstown. I do not have any plans to record a Christmas album, but I should be back in Youngstown and Pittsburgh in 06-07. I will be in Cleveland this summer, so check the schedule. I believe it is in July at Blossom. Hope to see you there, and thanks for logging on.

From Vince:
I just got home from your performance with BRAVO Broadway! and the Vancouver Symphony this past Saturday night (October 8) and thought you all did an excellent performance. When I left for the lobby after the show, someone in front of me, who spotted you talking to someone behind me or beside me during two of the curtain calls, said something like "So you know the guys on the stage, then." I confessed that I didn't, but in l'esprit de l'escalier, I should have come up with something a tad more clever, like "Wish I did, but can't say that I do."
I'll look forward to seeing you the next time you make it back to Vancouver.

From Robin Harkrider:
Dear Mr.LaBrecque,
My name is Robin Harkrider. I heard you this evening at the Dodge theatre. What a voice you have. I guess you've heard that a million times. I enjoyed your performance emensley. I too love to sing Broadway music and I was wondering if you had any suggestions for me. Sometimes when I am auditioning I get a really bad case of nerves and dry throat. Do you have any suggestions? Again I am so glad to have heard your voice. Best of luck to you in the future.

Robin, I think that a small amount of nerves and excitement are natural and you eventually get used to it. With more and more experience you learn to get that under control. After all, getting in front of people and singing at thetop of your lungs is not natural! For people who are absolutely debilitated by nerves, the best technique I have seen is this: Focus on the acting and the storytelling of the song. If you have done your homework and are trained as an actor then your intention becomes different. If you find yourself being nervous about an audition or performance then you are not really accomplishing your task as an actor. If you want to say to people "Nobody, no nobody is gonna rain on my Parade!" This is a defiant and confident declaration. The CHARACTER is saying this with great confidence and assurance. If you focus on the specifics, how or why would nerves play a part? Unless the song is about nerves ("Pardon me is anybody here..........) then you are doing a disservice to the song by getting your baggage involved.

This is easier said than done, but I do hope this gets you thinking. The more you train, the more success you will have. Imagine Meryl Streep getting nervous? She probably does, but she has such an extraordinary command of her technique that I doubt it would ever show.
Best of luck,
Doug LaBrecque

From Melinda White:
Doug, I just got home from your performance on November 26 with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. This is the second time I have been privileged enough to hear you perform, the first time being the Tribute to Irving Berlin show with the National Symphony this June. I am looking forward to your next CD and will be coming back to this site often to make sure that I can see you perform again and again! I'm also big fans of Debbie and Rebecca and want to thank you for the magic you bring to us every time you sing.

From Kathy Evans:
I saw Mr. LaBrecque this weekend (Aug. 28, 2004) at Blossom in Cleveland. AGAIN, he brought me to tears with his rendition of Music of the Night!! I chatted with him briefly at the CD signing and asked if he would call me at night just to sing me to sleep. What an amazing artist!! To me, meeting Mr. LaBrecque was like my husband meeting Eddie Van Halen! One thing I forgot to tell Mr. "L" was that his rendition of the Phantom puts Michael Crawford to shame!!!! Please come back to Cleveland next year!!!

From Sue Samble:
Glad to see you are still enchanting audiences everywhere! Hoping I get to see you sometime soon...

From Caley:
I had the privilege to see you Saturday, August 7th, in Deer Valley, Ut. I was floored by your amazing talent and "fell in love" with your awe-inspiring voice. Thank you for a wonderful night!

From Veronica Bellone:
Your perormance at The Phil in Naples this afternoon, April 25 was nothing short of spectacular...you truly have a gift. Your rendition of Music of the Night from Phantom was very moving...it brought me to tears! Thank you so very much!

From Loretta Capwell:
My daughter & I so enjoyed your performance at the Naples Phil last night. Your songs from "Phantom of the Opera" were just great. As Mr. Pippin said, your brought the house down with "Music of the Night."
I've read your bio but other than the U. of Michigan there is not much personal data. Are you originally from the Midwest? Where is your family now located? We hope your schedule will include a return trip to Naples, for us to enjoy your wonderful voice and smile.

From Stan Lipp:
This is the first time I have ever written a performer, but you were so incredibly impressive tonight (24 April 2004) with the Naples, Fl Philharmonic that I just had to congratulate and thank you. Your performance was nothing short of spectacular. You richly deserved the standing ovation. Thank you for a very memorable evening --- and Go Blue!

From Fred & Mary Gollash:
We saw your performace last evening at the Naples Philharmonic Center. We have seen Phantom numerous times and thought your performace of Music of the Night was the best we have ever seen. You are an amazing talent! Thank you for a wonderful evening.

From Etta Smith:
I was given a ticket to the Pops last week and did not know what to expect.Your performance at the Naples Phil was so spectacular. You actually became the Phantom and I still hear Love Changes Everything bellowing through the theater. Thank you so much for a great evening.

From Janet Clark:
What a fabulous and fun night at the Phil in Naples tonite! Your performance of Over The Rainbow, a song that has been sung SO many times was beautiful and like honey, and your performance of the song from Phantom of the Opera was exciting and dramatic and we all leaped to our feet, despite aching 75 yr old knees! Thank you! Thank you!!!

From Dee May:
I had the privelege of attending your performance of Bravo Broadway at the Blossom Music Center this July with the Cleveland Orchestra. I am unable to walk very well, so my daughter and son-in-law came backstage and you autographed my CD I purchased there for me. Thank you so much!! That made my day. I hope you will be performing next summer at Blossom again (and autographing CDs). Do you currently have a CD out with the song "Bring Him Home" on it? I would love to purchase it.
Looking forward to seeing you perform again. Your performances are "awesome".
Sincerely,
Dee May (referred to as Gramma Dee)

Dear Gramma Dee,
Thanks for logging on and for your compliments. It is always an honor to to sing at Blossom, and last Saturday was memorable for all three of us. The weather was ideal, the crowd was fantastic (about 8000), and The Cleveland Orchestra played expertly. Rebecca Luker and Debbie Gravitte are great colleagues and truly gifted singers.
I hope to see you again at Blossom. In the meantime, I should get to work on recording Bring Him Home for you!
Sincerely,
Doug LaBrecque
